Amanda Hennessy
Metalsmith
I love the concept of ‘wearable art’. It’s what has inspired me—and what I have aspired to create—for many years. In sixth grade, I sold handmade plastic beaded jewelry at my school craft fair. Today, I design and hand-fabricate mixed metal jewelry in my Manitowoc, WI studio. I use both traditional metal smithing—forging, forming, sawing and cutting—and more innovative techniques like electro forming, pressing, and anodizing, to push the limits of what metals can do. My award-winning pieces have been exhibited at large art shows, small galleries and craft boutiques in over a dozen states. Following a career break to raise a family with special needs, and a relocation from North Carolina to Wisconsin, my studio has now re-opened under the name Metaluxe. I look forward to building new relationships with clients, and creating pieces that speak to them. Wearable art is above all a collaboration between artist and wearer; that’s when the jewelry truly comes to life.

My new studio is located in Manitowoc, WI, where I am the proud mama of two teen boys. In December of 2023 I married Mr. Hennessy and had the honor of designing and fabricating our wedding rings. Together, we have a total of five teenagers, two dogs and a hamster. A modern-day Brady Bunch!
